Batimatech LAB
The solutions exist. The introductions do not.
Construction is one of the least digitized sectors of the economy. Not for lack of technology. The companies building the solutions and the builders who need them simply never meet at the right moment. Batimatech LAB exists to make those meetings happen.
On one side
Technology companies with proven solutions and no way into an industry that distrusts promises.
On the other
Contractors and project owners with no time and no network to sort out what actually works.
The missing link is not incubation
It is trust.
Quebec has no shortage of incubators. What it lacks is a place where a technology company can be introduced to a project owner by someone both sides already respect.
That is exactly what ten years of sector work has built at Batimatech. We are neither supplier, buyer, nor investor. We hold no stake in the companies we support, and that is what makes our recommendations credible.
Batimatech LAB turns that network into structured support. For innovators, it is access. For builders, it is a filter. For the sector, it is time saved.
What the LAB actually does
Qualified introductions
Prepared meetings between innovators and project owners from our network, with real follow-through rather than an exchange of business cards.
Sector immersion
Understanding project cycles, stakeholders and job site culture. What normally takes five years of mistakes to learn.
Regulatory navigation
Building codes, RBQ, CMMTQ and CMEQ requirements, and access to public procurement.
Field validation
Pilot projects at real companies, on real job sites, with real users.
Access to funding
Mapping of public programs and hands-on support in building applications.
Sector showcase
Visibility at Grand Batimatech and the PitchTech competition, in front of the decision makers who matter.
What became of our finalists
One hundred and thirty-seven companies have come through the competition since 2017, nineteen of them this year. Here is what happened next, without adjectives.
companies acquired
K-Ops, Maestro Technologies and Mobile-Punch all found buyers after coming through the ecosystem.
venture capital rounds
Mechasys and SmartD Technologies secured institutional funding.
alumni who came back to serve the ecosystem
As a board member, a juror, or host of the competition.
Add to that Brique Recyc entering the European market, a MIPIM Proptech award won in New York by BioAlert Solutions, and vadiMAP joining the Quebec delegation at MIPIM Cannes.
What the ecosystem has already produced
The LAB formalizes something Batimatech has been doing for ten years. Here is what companies say about it, in their own words.
“That visibility translated into real credibility. Contractors, project owners and partners took our conversations more seriously simply because we had been there.”
“Batimatech’s support allowed us to win the main prize, a decisive milestone for our company.”
“Several of the relationships formed there led us to major partnerships in Quebec that are now pillars of our growth.”

“Batimatech is uniquely positioned to create and operate an impactful, first-of-its-kind contech incubator. It is an opportunity for Quebec to take a major leadership role.”
Batimatech has been profiled in JBC Media’s Champions de la construction magazine. The organization has also received the support of the Centre de recherche informatique de Montréal, and Grand Batimatech hosted Luc Sirois, Quebec’s Chief Innovator, for the unveiling of the Construction Innovation Barometer.
Stages that are not ours
Running our own event would be easy. Opening other people’s stages to our companies, in Quebec and abroad, takes ten years of relationships.
MIPIM Cannes
Active agreementAccess to the Quebec delegation at the largest international real estate gathering. Our leadership was there this past March to prepare the ground.
MIPIM Propel, New York
2019 to 2023, agreement endedFor several years, a place at this international showcase was offered as a PitchTech prize. It is the door through which BioAlert Solutions and later vadiMAP began their journey abroad. MIPIM no longer holds this event in New York.
Real Estate Summit, Informa
Ongoing collaborationBatimatech is commissioned to build panels and places companies from its ecosystem on them as speakers. Mechasys, Upbrella, Explor.ai, vadiMAP and Landerz have all been there.
The Buildings Show, Toronto
Every DecemberNorth America’s largest design, construction and real estate gathering, produced by Informa. Roughly 30,000 professionals and 1,600 exhibitors.
Chicago Build Expo
Every OctoberThe Midwest’s largest construction and design show, at McCormick Place. We go to spot solutions and partners before they reach Quebec.
Our alumni come back
The clearest sign that support worked is when those who received it come back to run it for the next ones. One hundred and thirty-seven companies have come through the competition since 2017, and a good number of them stayed in the orbit.
Came through the competition with K-Ops, joined the City of Montreal delegation to Web Summit through Batimatech, then sold his company to an American acquirer. He now sits on our board of directors.
CEO of Mechasys, a finalist before becoming a juror for several years. He regularly speaks on panels, both at our events and on the stages we program elsewhere.
CEO of Dreeven, she came through the competition before hosting it for several years. She sits on the PitchTech committee.
They are not alone. The competition’s ten-year panel at Grand Batimatech 2026 brought together Tommy Bouillon of Brique Recyc, Yvonick Houde of HBGC Ingénieurs, Jérémy Samson-Boucher of vadiMAP, Marc Parenteau of AÏDI, Nicolas Archambault of Bastia, Eddy Dureuil of Solutions EcoTime and David Laliberté of RI3D, all former finalists or winners.
